Badger Region - CLC History
In 1997, Gene Bednar’s pride and joy was a two-toned 1955 Cadillac Coupe De Ville. Gene was already a member of the Cadillac & LaSalle Club and wondered if there were enough Cadillac enthusiasts interested in starting a Wisconsin Cadillac club.
Backed by Gene’s relationship with the staff at Crest Cadillac in Brookfield, Gene decided to give it a try. Using the CLC International Membership Directory, Gene sent a letter and a self-addressed post card to every Wisconsin member of the CLC and hoped there would be enough positive responses to start a Wisconsin club. There were! A Saturday luncheon meeting was arranged for the potential members to meet with Gene and Herb Karow, the CLC Central Region Vice-President at the time.
Named the Badger Region of the CLC, it includes all of Wisconsin. Gene became the first Director and Herb continued to guide the development of the new region until we were on solid footings. The club was incorporated and we continue to grow.
The first newsletter was published in September, 1997. It contained information on a fall outing and picnic with a tour of a local auto museum. The meetings were bi-monthly and we soon became involved with an annual Cadillac & LaSalle show at Crest Cadillac.
We are a laid back and informal group of enthusiasts and enjoy all things automotive. Typical activities include driving tours, garage tours, visiting restoration facilities, a summer picnic and an annual banquet meeting. In 2015, we will be hosting the CLC Grand National meet and expect guests from many states and countries.
Our monthly meetings are usually held at Crest Cadillac, except we take December off. We invite you to join the Badger Region of the CLC and look forward to meeting you. Go to our MEMBERSHIP page to print out an application.
What We Do
Badger CLC offers events related to our hobby each month, even in the cold weather season when most of our antiques are tucked away in storage. Events include member meetings, driving tours, junkyard jaunts, cruise nights, garage tours, marque-only car shows, and more.
We do not have any restrictions on the age of your Cadillac. We welcome ALL years at Badger Region sponsored events; from the brand new to the very first (1902).
The Badger Region Cadillac & LaSalle Club, Inc. publishes 11 newsletters (The Enlightener) each year to our membership. The NEWSLETTER is filled with event information, director's notes, classifieds and more. This is a great way to keep abreast of upcoming events as well as summaries or followups from past events.
